Crail Community Hall has been a presence in this Royal Burgh since 1908, when architect JD Cairns designed it as the United Free Church—a striking Edwardian building that's been at the heart of community life ever since.

Standing tall since 1908

You're sure to spot the distinctive octagonal tower on your arrival. It's something of a local landmark on the road into Crail. Below it, a large stained glass window looks out over the entrance, and a pair of heavy doors at the top of a set of stone steps. If you've been picturing a confetti moment, you've just found it.

Back where it belongs

But the story of this building is about more than just architecture. In 2021, after years of determined community effort, Crail Community Partnership completed an Asset Transfer from Fife Council which brought the hall into community ownership with support from the Scottish Government's Land Fund. It was a wonderful moment for Crail, and the beginning of a new chapter for the hall.

Today it bustles with life. From live music and film screenings, to pickleball and pilates, it hosts a calendar of events that brings the local community together.
